Your Questions, Answered
How does the 10% seniors discount work?
The 10% seniors discount is available to any senior who books with us. There's no card to show and no form to fill out first, just mention it when you call and it comes off the final price. It stacks with the $50 online booking offer too, so both can apply to the same job.
How do quotes work?
We inspect the job on-site, then give you a fixed price before any work starts. That price doesn't move once you've said yes, even if the job takes longer than expected. You're approving a price, not an estimate that grows later.
What does "$50 off when you book online" cover?
Book your job through the website rather than calling and $50 comes off the price we quote. It applies to the drain work itself, and it stacks with any other offer we run, including for seniors.
Is the quote really free?
Yes. A licensed plumber comes out, has a look, and gives you a written number with no call-out fee attached. You're free to say no to the job and you still won't be charged for the visit.
Can I clear a blocked drain myself?
A single slow sink or a plunger-friendly toilet is usually fine to try yourself. Anything past your own fittings, like a blocked sewer or stormwater line, needs a licensed plumber, both for safety and because NSW rules require it.
Who is responsible for a blocked sewer, me or Sydney Water?
You're responsible for the pipework from your house to the boundary shaft; Sydney Water takes over from the shaft into the main. Most blockages we're called to in Willoughby sit on the homeowner's side, in the pipe run under the front yard.
What is an overflow relief gully and why does it matter?
It's the small grated outlet near your house, usually at ground level, built to overflow safely before sewage backs up into the house itself. If yours is bubbling or overflowing, that's a sign the line further down is blocked and needs clearing properly, not just topping up with bleach.
Do wipes really block drains?
Yes, even the ones labelled flushable. They don't break down in the pipe the way toilet paper does, and they catch on joints and roots until the flow stops altogether. Don't flush wipes, no matter what the packet says.
Are you really open 24/7?
Yes, every day of the year, including public holidays. A licensed plumber answers the phone every time, day or night.
What counts as a drain emergency?
Sewage backing up into the house, water pooling around the overflow relief gully, or a toilet that won't clear and keeps rising all count as emergencies. A slow-draining sink that's been building for a week is worth calling about too, just not one we'd call urgent.
How fast can you get here?
We guarantee a licensed plumber on-site within 30 minutes of your call. That's a guarantee, not a rough estimate, because water backing up into your house won't wait for a convenient time.
What happens after I call?
A licensed plumber answers, asks a few questions about what you're seeing, and heads straight out. On-site, we inspect the drain, agree a number with you, and get your approval before any work starts.
Do you work on strata and apartment blocks?
Yes. Willoughby has pockets of unit blocks near the Penshurst Street and Mowbray Road strips alongside the detached homes, and shared drainage runs in strata buildings block the same way house drains do. We quote strata jobs the same way, a set figure agreed before anything starts.
What suburbs do you service?
Our run takes in Willoughby plus Chatswood, Artarmon, Naremburn, Northbridge and Lindfield. Call us to check if your street falls on our regular run.
Do tree roots really get into pipes here?
Regularly. Willoughby's tree-lined streets look great above ground, but the same roots chase moisture into any crack or loose joint in an old clay pipe below it. It's the single biggest cause of the blocked drains we clear locally.
How local are you, really?
We're on Willoughby's streets most weeks, not just passing through on a bigger patch. Willoughby Park and the Penshurst Street shops are part of our regular run, not a suburb we occasionally cover.
